We all have enjoyed listening and learning with The Mystery of History! I’m not utilizing the activities right now (how do people have time for all this? Memory Cards – The children write a synopsis of each lesson and use these cards for review as the year progresses. The writing is entertaining and enjoyable and her selection of events and people to include mesh well with our family values and ideas. I love The Mystery of History series. I stumbled upon Mystery of History after I started my online homeschool curriculum rental business, Yellow House Book Rental. However, these reading levels don’t reflect the wide range of ages that can benefit from this curriculum. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. I could cry trying to explain how much I love, and am thankful for, this book. It is the most comprehensive site I have found for homeschooling to date. To see what your friends thought of this book, Did you know that Ruth was more than likely alive during the Trojan War or that Esther's son (either in blood or by marriage) was the king who helped fund the rebuilding of the wall at Jerusalem, or that only a few years after the death of Mark Anthony and Cleopatra that John the Baptist was born? While the "bite-sized" lessons can certainly stand alone, they easily lend themselves to supplementation. It’s only added a few minutes to our daily read aloud time to just add MOH. The goal, the writing,  the inclusion of hands-on, timeline, map work and review are all superb, but the layout is difficult to navigate and I wish that they had a more usable resource list. Can’t believe you have the energy to keep up with it while expecting a little one. I guess I am just wondering if MOH is written above her level (she is 6) and would be better to wait. My second negative thought is that while each lesson is a narrative of the events, I prefer to read a lot more about each event (we read aloud a LOT) so that the children understand more of the culture and times. The activities, map work and timeline ideas were superb. This possibility is included in the supplemental resources section, but again this is just not as user friendly as I’m accustomed.
