Taste you'll never forget. Just done a taste comparison between the 10, oogie and this. Perhaps the lack of sweetness? Still think uigeadail is a better dram and possible even the 10 too. With drops of water this malt is my absolute favourite. Laphroaig 18 still has its place though, kind of 1a and 1b with this one. On the nose that familiar freshly cut peat mingles with salty sea air and smoke. But for all I've tried under $80 or so Corryvreckan is undoubtedly the best.
If there is a 50/50 chance of a whisky being good or bad...its not worth my money no matter how good it can be half the times.
But the two Laps were so close that the QC was definitely the better value. Min flaska är buteljerad 2015-01-05. Ardbeg isn't cheap by any means and I feel that the prices don't reflect the overall quality of the whisky. Currently my favourite core range Ardbeg. In fact it is equally enjoyable, and they are both now favourites (along with the 16-year-old Lagavullin which is a go-to Islay). Bit too strong for me. Excellent at each stage and certainly memorable.Nose: Herbal peat & pine notes.Palate: Sweet fruits, orange peels. Best 48 Euros ever spent... On the nose it's a intense peppercorn, candied ginger, pear, sharpee, and fresh pine. A dark fruit lingers into the finish where the smoke and peat dominate. There is richness here unlike the bland ashtray tar of the QC. Something for everyone. done) 13:51, 31 July 2007 (UTC). NCF, no e150, and at a high ABV just like all scotch should be. As a drinking scotch, I don't know that I'd want to wait 10 minutes after pouring myself a drink before I can touch it (the required 3 for a Guinness is painful enough! I’d drink it instead of coffee if I could afford it. While founded over 200 years ago, Ardbeg hasn’t slowed down in producing world-renowned whiskies.
Has all of the good things that you would expect from Ardbeg but very dry. I absolutely love this whisky. "\\\\\\\\rn\\\\\\\\\\\\23\\\\06\\\\00\\\\\\\\13\\\\07\\\\00\\\\\\\\\\\"\\\\f" + Why in the hell is someone reviewing a trip to Islay here? Soot stays on the tongue during the aftertaste. This remark relates only to the ‘Grey Dogs’ or Little Corryvreckan, to the North of Scarba.
Very good balance between alcohol and the smoke reminiscence of smoked meats with buttery mouthfeel.Taste: exceptional finish, lingers lengthily.Very good whisky 10/10, I agree the the "Only for the experienced drinker!".
It’s a good, strong, serious Islay malt but neat it’s a bit much for me, and lacks subtlety.
This is a sweaty one for certain.
I actually prefer this one on a big cube to smooth it out, but it's satisfactory neat. I tasted with a drop of water and without and I actually preferred it without because I found that the water reduced the smokey peat flavours and aromas slightly.
Just smoke and medicine and the alcoholeburning my tastebuds off. I have thou I admit never been to Islay. Excellent at each stage and certainly memorable. If you're really looking for an Islay without sweetness, but that is more enjoyable, I would recommend the Lagavulin 18 as it has many of the smoky and salty characteristics of the Corryvrecken, without overpowering your palate - particularly if you're already set on spending over a hundred dollars on a bottle. Very nice indeed./Mike Sthlm Sweden. Also, you would have found that the islands aren't Disneyland if that's what you were looking for. Personally I think this is legendary, I understand what the fuss is about, but if you like smooth and mellow then steer well clear. It's simple in a worst way. Love it or hate it. No more whisky for me! So, with Corryvreckan we have an NAS whisky presented at roughly 57.1%, non-chillfiltered but, strangely, not natural colour. My favorite bar none.
Palate: Sweet spun sugar hits the tongue first, then fresh green apple takes over. There's something here, something raw and heavy yet perfectly enjoyable.
Lingering burn, lingering wooden dryness. The sailing directions for Little Corryvrekan suggest its extend is to great to safely attempt this and pass through in time as sailing boats would take too long — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.31.202.145 (talk) 10:40, 11 August 2016 (UTC), The area was surveyed a few years ago, and no pinnacle was found. Khi sử dụng trang web này, bạn đồng ý với, Cảm ơn bạn! everything blended together in a most heavenly fashion.i will definitely purchase another bottle after i have explored more whiskies! And the first words out of my mouth were, "Wow! Please get it right if you want to comment. Perhaps less complex than it's Uigey little brother, but still a solid choice in its price range. Copyright © 2020 Master of Malt. Quite unique.Finish: Sudden & strong waves of smoke, chili & meats. Two flights of three drams. That's a promise. I readily admit that I am inexperienced but this one is not for me. review. Glad I tried it. "u)\\\"\")" ; Nose: Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…. Maybe I had my expectations too high initially because I assumed that is would taste peaty like a punch to the jaw, but I was disappointed because I didn't think there was enough peat. I enjoyed this greatly. ), but the wait is definitely worth it. Nose: Iodine, rum spices, sherry and dried fig or other sweet fruits, and perhaps banana? I don’t find this as good as Uigeadail, and certainly not worth the extra £15. I like it almost as much as I do the Uigeadail, but just not quite. I'd prefer more mellow, aged smoke and complexity as all I get from this is brutality and strength. "\"(9),9\\\"\\\\}ubwwhh).zm1\\\\-\\\\\\\"n\\\\[Lgmps6c02\\\\\\\\16\\\\05\\\\" + I really like it. "NS1700\\\\\\\\34\\\\0F\\\\10\\\\05\\\\00\\\\\\\\7K02\\\\\\\\06\\\\01\\\\02\\"+ This tasted like eating the road. the regular 10 YO is my 10/10 everyday dram, but the Corryvreckan... Do yerself a favour and buy every bottle you can.
I always drink this dram with water. It is not a whisky for The novice. The first I cant remember much about. Sip small, sip long. So much to savour. There's the soot of a pyre, and of charred meat. Feel slightly let down given its the most expensive of the core range. The smoke is there from the peat, but it is underwhelming. This whisky doesn't meet my expectation of what i expected it to be compared with judgements based on previous experience. Please read the following after taking a few deep breaths and an open mind.FACT: Today, I tried these bottlings at the Ardbeg distillery warehouse. The Whisky seems a little rough, perhaps a 8-10 yr old.
Oogy is softer and fruitier; there's potential there but to me a bit bland. Yum! The review that says "Not sure" could have been written by me. Nose is smokier than the Laphroaig. Very woodsy - peat and brine with a lingering aftertaste somewhat medicinal. What a wonderfully unique malt this is. There's band aid (yes , really!) Non-chill filtered single malt aged 5 years in ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. Yes, there was plenty of smoke and medicinal flavours but they didn't hang together well, I felt. I would give Corry 4 stars and the Cove 5 now. I'd make the change myself, but I was involved with the survey and I'm not sure if that would count as a Conflict_of_interest. Definitely. Peaty, woody, salty, a lot of layers of smoke and fresh wood chips. Far less subtle than the sublime Uigeadail this is no less of a single malt. Idiots. The illustration on this page of one of HM Ships on a gray and misty day in the gulf is testament that the above myth is exactly that and my conclusion is that someone at some time has misread the pilot and applied that warning to the Gulf of Corryvreckan. To the north is the isle of Belnahua and to the north west are Eilean Dubh Mor and the Garvellachs. It’s a bit like being hit in the face with a burning peat briquette on a beach in a storm, and not necessarily in a good way. Of all the Ardbeg offerings, that are currently available at least, this has been my favorite. What an absolute disappointment. I consider this to be what Laphroaig QC in my opinion tries and fails to be. Strong, alcoholic, peat, smoke, dark fruit combine to make this a surreal dram. Ohhh – this is wonderful stuff. Lastly, if you nose the empty glass once you've finished, there is an aroma that is not altogether pleasant which lingers in your nostrils. Bạn đã biết đây là diễn đàn Y8 chưa? Like other Islay, it definitely becomes sweet once your senses get past the smoke. My thanks to the sneaky, negative, commentators above - trying to distract you leaving more for them to buy.... Another great Islay Whisky, this one with a touch of salt and alot of peat! while(x=eval(x)); A glorious dram nonetheless, demanding slight more respect than the Ugedail. Impressive tastes of chocolade, fruit, all surrounded by tasteful smokey elements which are milder than the usual 10 yrs old medicine like Ardbeg. What a treat. Please enter your details to make it easier for us to help you further. A true ardbeg from the richer side. I am confused why you would book a holiday based on a distillery if you clearly don't like whisky. A brief review after my first taste. But we finished with the Corry. I can spend minutes just smelling it, and the sip is even better. It's very good but I enjoy most Ardbegs more then this one.. Islay at it's glorious best.

Reminds of Laphroaig QC but a little sweeter and not so phenolic. This was included in a package-Regular 10 year Ardbeg, a wee dram of Corryvreckan, and a wee dram of Uigeadal. I get the impression this this whisky is 'over-designed' beyond the Uigeadail, containing too much of the manly chest-beating elements and thus losing its balance. While founded over 200 years ago, Ardbeg hasn’t slowed down in producing world-renowned whiskies. The awards it's gotten til now should speak for itself..but I had to say this, the corryvreckan is amazing. //-->
