Our summer camp empowers campers to develop independence, self-esteem, and life-long friendships. Registration for those who were previously registered in JCC of Ottawa Summer Camps 2020 takes place June 22 and 23. Parents and guardians will not be permitted into the building for pick up and drop off (weather permitting – more information on procedures coming soon). We believe in teaching responsibility, cooperation, community, and service in a way that goes hand-in-hand with splashing in the pool, enjoying the perfect popsicle and shouting a camp cheer. We will be in touch soon with more information on our summer plans. Activities will include dress-up days, special events, and Shabbat gatherings. In order to accommodate as many children as possible, we are limiting registration to one two-week session per child. While we will not be offering our traditional summer camp, we are working on redesigning a program with public health measures top of mind. Based on guidance from the City of Ottawa and Health Canada, we will make a final decision by mid-June. The JCC Summer Camps team is meeting regularly and will keep you updated on our plans as they progress. All programming will take place on Zoom. If you have a credit in your SJCC account, please go ahead and register online as you normally would for camp. The SJCC building will remain closed to all members during this time and will be available only for the SJCC Summer Program participants. Aaron is a French Teacher at the Ottawa Jewish Community School, as well as a former Traveling Sports Camp Assistant Director and camper. If space becomes available after our initial round of registration, we will allow families to register for additional sessions. While our campers rave that Camp JCC is “the best place ever” we know that spending a summer at Camp JCC provides opportunities to gain valuable skills. We are forging ahead and planning for the summer while at the same time considering the possibility of a shortened program beginning later in July, as long as it is safe to do so.
