I'm going to send this to my friends who haven't read the novels to give them an overview of what exactly happened there! We’ve got flying Legions performing aerial sieges. I was just recently reading the book, discovered that it's a part I ending on a cliffhanger and got angry (and ordered second part instantly), but it is over the former Vivec city in part 1, how could it invade Cyrodil before reaching Vivec? Looks like you're using new Reddit on an old browser. It's from the ES novels, the Infernal City and Lord of Souls. Good video. (but tbh a huge Eurasian Synthesis mixed w/ Star Wars) So one of my favorite pieces of Dunmer trivia is that many caves and names of Daedric ruins have names similar to Assyrian kings.Furthermore, looking at a map of Ziggurats/Pyramids of ancient Mesopotamia, we can see the prefix Tell-and Ur all over the place. While it certainly caused a considerable loss of life and a bit of shock, most of those dead were already labeled as Lukiul, sort of indesirable citizens, by the An-Xileel.

Nice. Liked and subscribed to incitive you to do more good work. Edit: this isn't very accurate. Disturbing. The Umbriel Crisis Map Animation. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. He selected a Dunmer named Ilzheven to power the Ingenium. In case anyone wants to use the map it can be found here.Thank you to /u/TamrielicScholar for the suggestion. As always, feedback is appreciated and what you like to see next? /r/teslore is a subreddit dedicated to the discussion and creation of the vast lore of The Elder Scrolls. Umbriel at one point reaches close enough to Vvardenfell for it's undead to cross the expanse from morrowind to the ruins of Vivec. Gotta check your other videos, I Love Mapping... My comment seems to be missing, so I'll rephrase: wasn't Umbriel visible from Vivec city before it attacked Cyrodil? The Red Moment, the war of the First Council, the whole Dagoth Ur situation, Baar Dau, the collapse of the Tribunal... Morrowind really isn't the place to be for peace. Cookies help us deliver our Services. This time I used a new, more modern map I drew and a new color palette. We’ve got a petty ass Dunmer mad scientist/wizard feeding off of souls, stealing part of a Daedric Prince’s realm, and making himself an immortal god thing. Your thoughts on the Umbriel Crisis? Penitus Oculatus, Knights of the Thorn, Argonian ultranationalists, Hist visions, loads of new spells and daedra, delicacies made out of mortal souls, underwater harpoon gunfights, drugged up Khajiit, drugged up Argonians, Titus Mede being badass, Sul being badass, a straight up horror sequence featuring everyone’s favorite sentient sword/murderer Umbra. Define ''thoughts''? By using our Services or clicking I agree, you agree to our use of cookies. Umbriel is a floating island, ripped straight from the realm from where the Hist originated. That whole crisis was the wackiest, most over the top awesome thing that’s happened to Tamriel in years, and I hope Bethesda hires Greg Keyes again some day to give us more stories like it.

Clear and informative. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. People debate about it by the time of Skyrim, but the books have reference to the legions in morrowind. My thoughts are that it’s the most metal shit in the last two eras and I wish it got more attention.

At first, it consumed as much as ten souls per day. /r/teslore is a subreddit dedicated to the discussion and creation of the vast lore of The Elder Scrolls. I feel more casual fans should read about Umbriel.

We’ve got an army of Argonian zombies. I have awoken once more with an animation of The Umbriel Crisis. Umbriel existed within a bubble of Oblivion, and was described as an upside down cone. It was a crisis, had some pretty devastating effects on Morrowind, Black Marsh, and Cyrodiil, but that's about it. Criminals were used to power the Ingenium, but eventually, a Vuhon discovered that appropriate souls could power it for months. Umbriel needs to be talked about more. To be fair, they've never had it easy. Morrowind is still in the empire at this point.

I have awoken once more with an animation of The Umbriel Crisis. It's damaging effects on Black Marsh are questionable. In case anyone wants to use the map it can be found here. After Vivec's disappearance, the Ingenium was built to keep the Ministry of Truth afloat. Ilzheven's man, Sul, thought that Vuhon had selected her because she loved him instead of Vuhon. It was searching for Umbra there so it was in fact the first target, meaning it's really important that you show it.

Many thanks for the animation. Press J to jump to the feed. Thank you for spreading awareness about the secondary oblivion crisis! The Ingenium needed souls to be powered. I totally forgot Umbriel was a thing and I read the damn book. Truth be told, I have never paid much attention to the Umbriel Crisis, but this video is perfect to show how serious it was. Because it seems so inconsequential by the time of Skyrim because no one mentions it, but we at least got a reference to it with the Sleeping Tree. This time I used a new, more modern map I drew and a new color palette. One thing missing is that the undead presence was extensive enough that it reached the shorelines of the southern parts of Morrowind and the Red Mountain, as that was where the Umbriel undead captured Sul and Attrebus. Great job! Thank you to /u/TamrielicScholar for the suggestion. The site may not work properly if you don't, If you do not update your browser, we suggest you visit, Press J to jump to the feed.
