Not only is the rent killer, but the forced dining plan as well with the extortionist market. If you're not going to be taking the same classes that everyone else is in, I would guess that you would feel a little isolated? Lots of parties, though often times than not it may get shut down. I'm an accepted transfer as well and am worried I may get distracted from studies living in a triple.
If it isn't likely for me to receive a single, then I will probably look for off-campus housing. They sent out an email last year that about 95% of incoming transfers will live in a triple, so that probably doesn't look good if you want to get a single. The best you can expect as a first year at the village is a double. Let me know if you have any questions about housing! I'm also likely a bit older than most at 26 so I'm hoping that doesn't cause issues.

Welcome to r/UCSD! Thanks. I'm majoring on Mathematics so if anyone out there could give me an insight on my major that would be nice. Also, if anyone has lived at the village, how was it? They're pretty decent about that kind of situation, I believe, and it wouldn't hurt to try.

As a transfer I only had to take CAT125R (online), which I did during a summer session, and my DEI class also counted towards my major.
