Welcome to Reddit's finest Smash Bros community! He has enormous, powerful disjoints that could stuff approaches and since he could drift enough to be safe on shield after throwing out an aerial, it made for a half decent wall of pain. The only option that's remotely safe for him is turtling but since offense is actually good in this game, turtling is less effective and he is also very susceptible to good zoners. There are 47 games that feature Bowser Jr. vs Yoshi in the SSB World database. His jab actually works now, and it still has its good kill power. He was suggested to appear in the then unnamed Ultimate in its first teaser trailer at the end of the March 8th, 2018 Nintendo Direct, and officially announced in Ultimate's E3 2018 trailer As opposed to being a starter character like in previous Smash games, Bowser is now an unlockable character. GameCube Controller Super Smash Bros. He’s got projectiles, but he also has an aerial zoning game, so he’s a weird mashup of playstyles that you as the player decide what’s best to use against an opponent. I'll practice it though. Now that jumpsquats are 3f across the board, it is soooo much easier to punish Jr. out of shield in this game, especially if you block kart or his fair/bair.

Wrong sub? Yeah, I suppose we have different mindsets for how 40:60 is interpreted. JavaScript is disabled. "Drastic" for me would be 30:70, 20:80, etc etc. He’s got great aerials, but he has a lot of flaws past that. Also make all his drill moves eat a lot of shield. Bowser Jr. vs Yoshi. He has a nice D-tilt and okay F and U-tilts, Jab is pretty good, and Jr. has the benefit of being one of the heaviest non-heavyweights in the game, meaning he’s gonna tank stocks to 120%-150%. Over 250,000 Smash Bros. fans from around the world have come to discuss these great games in over 19 million posts! Your options start to shrink because what you want to do is either unsafe or not good, and that's when a character is seen as bad, when all their options put them at risk. Now that you can just shield mechakoopa and kill it instantly, many of his setups are just outright removed. That's not to say you can't beat people with him, you can beat people with any awful character, but he's not winning anything meaningful unless he gets some love from Daddy Sakurai. go premium to hide all advertisements and this notice. They will wall you out so hard it's silly.

You can still use MechaKoopa behind you and have it follow you as you approach, but it's just not enough to be potent. I thought his recovery was pretty good, as long as you don't get naired after upb, but you can get to the ledge with only side b's jump and your jump most of the time. Yeah, that needs a nerf.

It's unknown if Bowser really deserves that spot, though. Just to name a few things, he's not great at getting kills easily, he's easy to edgeguard, and a lot of his attacks are on the slower-side. Of course, this has driven him mad, although he has been seen working with Mario in the past. Also d-tilt is painfully easy to parry because it's 3 hits and if someone knows the matchup you can literally never use the move because they will parry the last hit and f-smash you.

By the time you can react to their approach and use the kart as a whiff punish, they've landed safely and can shield or straight up attack again. He doesn’t have a specific playstyle persay.

DLC Fighter 8 is your Most wanted, but... What are some good spirit builds for each Fighter's Pass 1 Character? I’ve been using Jr. ever since Smash 4 and I can say that Jr. is certainly an oddity.

Quick edit: I play Lemmy on the side as I love the character and I get frustrated with his options. Alternatively, this ad may have just failed to load. He has a nice kit but it just doesn’t work against the rest of the Roster. with these he can approach and punish more easily, while still being able to put out his defensive wall of aerials if he wants. It’s hard to get good hits in if your opponent is somewhat skilled. None of his moves break shields effectively (except cannonball, but why would anyone shield that move), his grab is really slow, making tomahawk grabbing hard to do (at least its somewhat rewarding to land now), and like you said none of his aerials are all that safe to land with besides a spaced bair. Ultimate Edition, Nintendo Super Smash Bros. He could also use kart, cancel it, and continue this process until he saw an opponent commit to an unsafe aerial, let the kart go and start combos that way. Jr., Banjo and Kazooie, Piranha Plant. Bowser Jr. isn't a very fast character and does not have the best approach due to mediocre dash attack and grab options. Neutral b is so close to being good, it just needs a bit more speed on an uncharged shot and a bit less endlag. All based on how I played him online to get him to elite smash. I mean as yikes as his neutral can be, if they're fishing for parries and do it a few times, can't you just stay a bit out of range of their shield, so if they commit to any offensive option they'll take a hit, but if they stay in shield you whiff and are safe?

No idea how much things have or have not changed with Ultimate, but with a Koopaling in Smash Wii U I have been able to hit someone off the stage with a back aerial, then while they're trying to recover in the air, I've tipped them with a forward aerial into the blast zone, and this is around 70% - 80%.

Cons: pretty slow both on ground and in the air, slow grab, vulnerable recovery. The problem with Jr. is that he's just so bad on offense. Ultimate. I think the actual reason is because he's consistently been a bottom 3 character in terms of usage so no actually knows if he's good or bad, they just see him lower on tier lists so they assume he must be trash. They might just buff him. You must log in or register to reply here. Thanks, but I know this character has some upsides, right? His F-Smash whiffs on ocassion, Mechakoopa and Cannonball have way more endlag than they should, his grab comes out frame 11 and only combos into U-throw -> U-air or sometimes B-air, his approach options are super predictable, either being fair or Side B shenanigans, there’s a lot more but those are some big pointers. You had to respect it because it allowed Jr.'s offense to actually have a degree of safety, especially when he throws out stuff like F-Smash. When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot, but I always found them. I will say though, while I did main Jr. for years in 4, I haven't played a TON of him in Ultimate, but having picked him up against my friends, all of which are really good players who know the matchup already, it's just way harder. The problem is though, that moves in Ultimate--particularly air moves--are a lot safer, which means landing kart and punishing in general on good players is exponentially harder.
